St. Paddy's Day Time! - posted: Feb 25th
The end of February is here and that means the Gaels are getting geared up to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Every year the Seattle Gaels walk in the St. Patrick's Day Parade showing off Gaelic Football and Hurling to the crowd. This year will be no different except for the fact that the Gaels will always try to bring a little bit more to the table.
Hopefully this year won't be bombarded with rain like last year, but even so, we'll be there with the Women's National Championship trophy, a decked out vehicle and throwing treats into the crowd.
We will also be at the Seattle Center with a booth in the Center House. There we will have video showing the games that we play, brochures, equipment, tshirts, etc. for all to see.
For all the information you'll ever need for Irish Week 2008, go to the Irish Heritage Club
Open Field Day Notice! The Gaels annual Open Field Day will be held Sunday, March 30th, Noon at Magnolia Field. There we will provide equipment and teach everybody Gaelic Football and Hurling. This is a perfect opportunity to learn the sport, ask every question in the book, play a friendly scrimmage and see if this is right for you. Mark the date down!

Seattle Gaels Win in Chicago! - posted: Sept 7th
The 2007 Seattle Gaels Women's Gaelic Football team went into Chicago without a championship in its 10 years of existence. They left Junior "B" Ladies Football champions! The Gaels won four games throughout the long weekend with the final one against Atlanta, winning 3-13 to 0-6. Kate Starbird (left) played exceptionally well and won the MVP award for the weekend.
The Men's Gaelic Football came out and played a hard game against Pittsburgh. They lost but it signaled the first time in 3 years the Seattle Gaels sent a Men's Football team to Nationals. They'll be looking to improve on their talents and go on to Boston for next years Nationals.
The Gaels Hurling squad brought TWO teams to Nationals this year, a first for Seattle. While both teams didn't perform as well as they would have liked, bringing two teams to Nationals shows the commitment and energy that is brewing with the Seattle Gaels Hurling Team. These lads are only gonna get better and having the dedication is only going to bring success.
For now, the men's squads start to think about next year and what they need to do to succeed while the ladies take a minute to celebrate their first ever championship.

Seattle Gaels Battle Hard in Vancouver - posted: Aug 13th
The Seattle Gaels Women's Gaelic Football team traveled up to Vancouver, broke up into two different squads and fought hard against Vancouver and Calgary. With both squads playing extremely well, it was the Vancouver Harps that stole the show with some excellent play. Vancouver also went on to win both days (I believe).
In the one game between Seattle's combined squad and Vancouver's, Seattle came back from a 3 goal deficit and played one of their best games of the year. The Gaels will now take that game and attitude to Nationals and go for the Junior B division.
The Men's Hurling team did not fare as well as they did last year. Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton all played some excellent hurling, beating Seattle the first game and tying the second game. The Gaels played tough, lead by Traelach Tuohy, but injuries and erratic playing couldn't hold the Harps down.
The men will take two teams to Nationals, a Junior 'B' and a Junior 'C' squad.

The The Hurling City League final is set with the Blue Beyonders facing the Red Eagle Bears in the finals. The Blue Beyonders beat the Black Ninja's on July 12th in the last game of the season to jump ahead into second place.

Gaels watch some rollerderby action - posted: may 29th
The Seattle Gaels took a night off last Saturday and enjoyed the thunderous action that is known as a Rat City Rollergirl bout.
The RCRG's were kind enough to give the Seattle Gaels our own private area as well as a couple shouts outs during breaks in the action.
The Gaels went on to watch D.L.F. (Derby Liberation Front) destroy some low class team from Texas, but unfortunately watched fellow hurler, David Axlehoff (aka Nate) manage the Sockit Wenches to another loss (0-3 so far this year).
Needless to say, the Gaels won't be having David Axlehoff manage any of our teams anytime soon.
Special thanks to the RCRG's as well as Matt, Nate and everyone else involved, for showing the Gaels a good time.
